Founded in 1992, today we manage the care of more than 49,000 people throughout South Central Pennsylvania.

SOUTH CENTRAL Preferred is a not-for-profit managed care organization specifically designed to provide quality, affordable health care to employers and employees in South Central Pennsylvania - that's why it's part of our name. Our network includes more than 95% of the health care providers in Adams, Franklin and York Counties.

The plan and its health care provider network is a collaborative effort of leading physicians and hospitals throughout the region under the joint sponsorship of Summit Health, Hanover Hospital, The Physician Hospital Organization of Gettysburg, and WellSpan Health.

In 2002, SOUTH CENTRAL Preferred, in conjunction with seven other regional provider networks, launched Pennsylvania's Preferred Health Networks (PPHN).
