Preferred Provider
Organization (PPO)
As a Preferred Provider
Organization (PPO) for self-insured employers, SOUTH CENTRAL Preferred
provides a combination of affordability, cost controls, and physician choice.
Extensive Network - More than 95% of health care
providers in our three county regions participate in our network. Utilization of these providers affords
substantial discounts through negotiated fees.
No "Gatekeeper" – SOUTH CENTRAL Preferred
is a network of participating physicians, but does not require patients to
seek approval from a gatekeeper. Referral forms are not used.
Paper-free convenience - Physicians, hospitals and
other participating providers send their bills directly to SOUTH CENTRAL Preferred,
relieving you of time-consuming complex bill forms when utilizing network
providers.
Provider Credentialing -
Participating providers have been carefully selected based on qualification
and experience criteria. We review,
education and training, malpractice and state sanction history, and board
certification.
Utilization Management - Our Utilization Management
nurses use nationally and locally established standards to measure
performance, evaluating both inpatient and outpatient services. This review of procedures and use of
medical services and facilities ensures timely and efficient delivery of
health care.
Medical Management - Each local area in which SOUTH
CENTRAL Preferred operates has a Medical Director appointed to oversee
the care provided to members in that geographic region. The concept is simple: who better knows the
specific medical community than a licensed physician in that area?
